Shipwrecked (Spoilers)

Anyone else think this episode would have made for a good 'final' episode? We got to see a climactic battle between Blackstar and the Overlord, including the Overlord gaining possession of the Powerstar, and it ended with Katana ordering a rescue mission. If nothing else, it would have made for a great way to end the season. It gave us a good finale and a level of closure that still allowed for continuation. If the series was through, it was safe to assume that Katana and company would return to rescue Blackstar and put an end to the Overlord.

The Zombie Masters was an okay episode, but it certainly didn't fit the bill of a final episode or even a season finale. Really though, with how readily cartoons appeared to be canceled back then, it seems as though every season finale had to be treated as a potential farewell.

I absolutely agree with the O.P.

Shipwrecked is BY FAR the finest episode of the entire series. None of the other shows even comes close.

1. The PowerStar is united (the only time in the whole series), which is an exciting, climactic moment.

2. You see, for the first time, a "link" back to Blackstar's life back on Earth, with his girlfriend from his former life. When Blackstar's sorceress companino(Mara? Was that her name?) sees Blackstar and Katana together, she actually cries. That one moment gives her more character development than in the entire rest of the series combined, for it suggests that she has feelings for Blackstar.

3. Katana is gorgeous; by far the most beautiful female character even seen on the series.

4. The plot is very interesting -- will Katana give the StarSword to the Overlord to win Blackstar his freedom?

Really, the episode has the best (arguably the only) emotional significance in the entire series.

I just obtained the DVD (which cost me a bundle, given that it's out of print), and much of the series was a bit of a disappointment; but this episode was a winner.
