Colin Farrel's best performance?

I don't think that I have seen a better performance from colin farrel since the making of this movie. I have never liked him as an actor, but he gave a truly convincing performance in this film. I was also amazed at the job that Clifton Collins (the butcher) did in this movie. The fight scenes were awesome, and it didn't seem like farrel gave any forced performances. It seems like he just went downhill from this film, though.

really?....have you seen daredevil?.... American Outlaws?... Minority REport? ...or The New World?
his performance are just as believing and just as good
Colin was very good in tigerland....but all those movies and a lot of other ones are just as convincing. most of the time when a movie sucked.....like alexander...probably the only good thing about it is colin

reply

Well I have heard that Colin's best performance until now was in Alexander. Open your eyes, people.
If USA didn't like the movie, doesn't mean that Europe didn't like it either

don't you see his kibbles and bits in this movie?

reply

I largely agree with gabriellastar88--until The New World, Tigerland *was* Farrell's best performance, and may still be…unless you count his hunky dumb horseman on Ballykissangel, over which this non-European used to swoon…. ;o)

Clearly, he needs really good directors (good scripts don't hurt either), and by and large Schumacher and his ilk just ain't it. Colin, if you're reading, for chrisssake get a better agent and quit with the blockbusters! We critics hated Alexander, hated Phone Booth, *really* hated Daredevil and to some degree Minority Report too (though you were decent in it), nor did we think much of The Recruit (a deliberately silly film, since now all Al Pacino does is tear up the scenery).

What a larf, that Colin Farrell would spend any time at all on the IMDb boards!

Don't remember any kibbles and bits in Tigerland…

Get them to sign on the line which is dotted.

He was good in Minority Report, SWAT and this. Absolutely sucked in Alexander. He has limited range so his best roles are the same cocky guy trying to beat the system. He was decent in The Recruit but again, same type of character.

You see his kibbles in Alexander, by the way. Personally I love his attitude. He's basically living his life like every guy would if he had the chance. Drinking boozing and carousing with the Hollywood elite. It's a dream come true.

The man who says he can, and the man who says he can't are both right. Which one are you?

reply

I think that Tigerland has been his best performance. I have not seen A New World because some of his crappy movies (Daredevil, The Recuit, and Alexander) really turned me off of his work.

hey im confused... r u a critic?? or r u just a person who have seen some of colin's movies?
personally.. i think colin is the only good part of alexander, phone booth was great cuz of the tension, in daredevil, again, colins the best tpart, and minority report?? wut r u talking about?? i frigin luv that movie, and plz speak for ur self when u say the recruit was bad... cuz the plot twists and acting was great in that movie
as for tigerland, this is one of his best performances, although i wouldnt say the best

I'm suprised nobody has said anything about "A Home at the End of the World" and "Intermission" both were Colin's acting is very good.

He needs to choose better small time movies with deep plots and meaning, that is when he does the best.

Colin's top 3 best performans..

1- The Recruit
2- Tigerland
3- Phonebooth

I haven't seen the new world, alexander, Intermission or A Home at the End of the World.

I'm looking forward to see Miami Vice

I agree that C.F. was very hot in Tigerland. Also see The Home at the End of the World...some great stuff there.
He needs a sensitive script but they don't pay the rent like Miami Vice or Alexander.

LOL i just watched the movie for the 3rd time and came to the same conclusion that this is Colin's best performance. He (very recently) has done alot of crap with only the exception of miami vice.

As this is one of his first main roles he has gone down hill. The bye products of fame haven't been good for his acting ability.

Will make a stronger performance in a movie than this??

reply

You haven't seen Intermission because it was not a US movie on release in every single theatre across the known universe...

If you have any doubts about Colin Farrell's acting ability, you should hear how much work he puts into speaking with an American accent... apparently it is the only way Americans can understand what is being said to them.

HA HA j/k

Regarding Colin Farrell having the same role in all the movies he appears in - if I pay $15 to see a Colin Farrell movie, I expect to see him get his gear off. Otherwise I'd feel ripped off.

reply

Yeah, Tigerland is definetely Farrell's best performance.

reply

I agree, definately his best performance, in fact I thought everyone's acting in this film was top notch. I cannot praise the quality of acting enough from this great, underated war film.

Top 5 war films (WWII and Vietnam only)

1) Saving private ryan
2) Apocalypse Now
3) Tigerland / full metal Jacket
5) Platoon

Phone booth and tigerland

ya this is by far his best performance..and i think his only good movie...all other movies where he plays the lead havent been very good...minority report was a great movie but he wasnt the main character.

I think this was one of his best performances. I also liked Phonebooth, Intermission, The Recruit and Miami Vice. I watched A New World, Alexander, Minority Report and the movie with Salma Hayek. These were o.k. I did not like Daredevil.
Colin does work hard for his accents. If you have ever seen him on Dave Letterman or anything else, you will see he has a thick Irish accent and he talks super fast. He also curses alot. I find him totally entertaining.

Yeah this is the best movie he has been in and this was his best performance. I don't know that his performance has been bad this other ones rather I think those other films are the product of hollywood trying to cash in on someones star value for the quick buck. Minority Report aside all the other films he has been in sucked. And lets face it his role in that movie amounted to little more than a glorified cameo appearance. I think he was dead by the half way point?
