Is it funny?

From the preview I saw at the begining of "Icthie the Killer", it looked like it was a strange comedy?

Why do I fall in love with every woman I see who shows me the least bit of attention?

Well, it's not a laugh-out-loud hahaha parody; it's an affectionate tribute, if you like, to the glory days of jidai-geki. There are some comedy elements - I enjoyed the elderly ninja who can only enter a room by dropping from the ceiling. But there's some real emotion, even some tragic elements, though none of it requires to be taken too seriously. Well worth watching.

Of course I'm here, Kikuchiyo-kun. Very glad you like this; I seem to remember you dissing my beloved Yamada Yoji because there wasn't enough sword action in Twilight Samurai, so I'm happy to find you can do without it. In which case you have got to try this one - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464038/ - a lovely, lovely film.

What do you make of the sudden outbreak of xenophobia in the titling department? I couldn't make out what all this strange stuff in my 'favourites' was, for a while. To have the great Chushingura renamed 47 Samurai is just silly.

Xenophobia seems to be over, Col Needham himself came along to apologise. I'm referring to a weird 48 hours when all the titles of all the films on the entire database were suddenly in English, or rather American. They've put it right, and the gentleman (I believe he is a Welshman, and I can't help picturing him as an elderly Colonel) explained that it was all a horrid mistake. Hooray, normal behaviour triumphs for once.

I thought it was hilarious. Definitely laughed out loud at more than one point.

This is definitely a comedy film before anything else, in my eyes. There aren't many scenes that are ever fully serious, everything is a bit tongue in cheek, and the main hero is always acting like an idiot.

Whether people think it's funny will depend on if they like this type of Japanese humor. I thought there were some great moments though.
