Movies of 2000 Bracket Game: Round Two

https://lebeauleblog.com/2020/03/30/movies-of-2000-bracket-game-round-two/

The year 2000 seems like such a simple time now! We survived the dreaded Y2K without incident and we had no idea of the challenges before us. This new bracket game takes us back to a time when Tom Cruise was on his second impossible mission, Tom Hanks was cast away, Mel Gibson was what women wanted and Russell Crowe made sure we were entertained.

Which movie from twenty years ago will readers pick as their favorite? You can help decide. Just make sure you don’t leave a hanging chad when you vote.

The first round of this game saw some close contests and some decisive victories. Meet the Parents stomped What Women Want with a near shut-out. The X-Men easily triumphed over Charlie’s Angels. Almost Famous scored more than twice as many votes from readers as High Fidelity. Bring It On and The Whole Nine Yards more than doubled their competition as well.

Gladiator vanquished Mission: Impossible 2. Miss Congeniality had to settle for a consolation prize against Erin Brokovich. Tom Hanks and a volleyball beat out Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer. Readers preferred Michael Douglas in Wonder Boys over Michael Douglas in Traffic. O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Best in Show scored easy victories in their respective brackets.

In the Jim Carrey bracket, Me, Myself and Irene edged out a victory over How the Grinch Stole Christmas by a single vote. American Psycho, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Emporerer’s New Groove and Remember the Titans beat out their competition by only two votes.

As we move into the second round, I need to remind readers of a mistake I made. High Fidelity is still listed as being in the game. Ignore the title and go with the poster image. That is actually representative of Almost Famous. Unfortunately Polltab doesn’t allow for editing once the contest goes live.

As always, voting ends Friday at 12:00 EST. Come back next week for the third round! And stay safe!
