Nah. I think Life In Wartime was worse, though it's kinda neat if you view it as a parody of Solondz's other films.

Yaaaaaah, I think you're both wrong. And sorry if I'm being pedantic but how close did you pay attention to Life During Wartime if you don't know what it's title is?

I think Storytelling was his worst; I liked Palindromes more than Storytelling...

Solondz' movies run a pretty wide gamut for me: love Happiness and Dollhouse, liked Dark Horse and Palindromes, didn't care much for Storytelling -- but still found something interesting in it. However, I tried to watch FA&D last night for the first time and found it extremely grating.

It was his first movie and it took this experience, maybe, for him to find the proper tone; this was far too broad. I think it's a credit to Solondz, actually, that he learned so quickly and adeptly what changes to make, because his next two movies were excellent.

Also, it was wise of him to realize that he is not leading man material, partially because -- through no fault of his own -- his on-screen persona is so similar to Woody Allen's that it is constantly distracting, and he never comes off well in that comparison.

Sad to say, this is one of those rare movies that I couldn't finish. Maybe I'll give it another try in a couple of days, but I just found the overall tone and performances quite repelling.

wow. Palindromes was pretty original work. This was just Allen where he himself would not care to go. This was pathetic and beyond cliché. I am glad Solondz has shown some growth.
