I saw on Amazon that both the end of evangelion and death&rebirth were rated TV-14, did these air on tv? Secondly, I saw the new box set with both movies, and it carried a 7 and up rating, does that mean that there is an edited version?

I can't say that they aired on TV but the real rating for the movies is 17+, not TV-14. And there's no edited version of the movies to my understanding. Most of the time the ratings you see on Amazon are wrong.
