What year is the movie suppose be?

Im watching this movie as I type and ive only watched about 30 minutes of it - Im extremely confused at what year this movie takes place?? Some of the characters are dressed as if they were in the 60's but some arent... and all of the cars in the movie are recent cars..
Does anyone know??

I think it was supposed to take place in modern times, but have a nostalgic, old time romance feel about it, hence the retro feel and look.
