question about the ending

at what point does this movie end? Is it right after Woodstock? If i remember right, that was when all the kids came home right? so it doesn't go in to the autumn/winter of '69?

reply

My guess was when the family was together for the BBQ that it was possibly Labor Day since Woodstock was August 15 to August 18, 1969. I could be wrong there because it did show more footage I think between the time the kids went home and the BBQ.

I haven't seen this movie in a while, but I do remember that Michael goes to visit Sarah while she's staying in Chicago. She says something about being there to cover the trial of the Chicago Seven for her school newspaper. That trial began at end of September 1969 and didn't end until February 1970. That's the last real historical reference I remember. My guess is that she's there to cover the first week of the trial and then drops by the family BBQ afterward which would place the ending in early October 1969.

Yup. That's also when Sarah and Michael get back together.
