Why don't they have shows like this anymore?

shows that made kids interested in Science and promoted a smart vibrant rich vocabulary and imagination!!!!!! Also the political commentary and symbolism taught me a lot of great life lessons by watching X-men, Batman the animated series, The new adventures of Jhonny Quest, Carmen Sandiago, Gargoyles, Mighty MAx, Reboot, shadow raiders, Beast Wars Xena and Hercules.

I grew up on these shows, and they taught me a lot of great life lessons and they felt more for adult. the focus of these shows were on adult angst which was better than the stupid cheap 2000's imitation of the shows with horrible animation.

Its no surprise kids are acting selfish and stupid these days they don't have any good role models to look up too mythological, animated, great strong chacters that promote integrity, no they look up to idiots like 50 cent.

What I would like to know is what exactly happened to fox and YTV Saturday morning line up of great shows they USED to have. Whos brite idea was it to create shows like THE batman and x-men evolution, emperors new school. these new shows are terrible.

I know, Seriously these days cartoons and some TV shows lack any greatness or the teachings of how to be a good cartoons. Shadow Raiders is just one of the perfect examples of Sci-Fi drama & action pushed to the greatest limits, Beast Wars as well had perfect writing from writers who did there Homework.

These days cartoons are going down the toilet, there are a few cartoons such as Transformers Animated, X-men Evolution, Bruce Timm's Batman that have managed to keep up there reputation of delivering a degree of seriousness & great work just like the 90's cartoons.

But seriously these days we seem to be getting crap from the 2000's cartoons that encourage children to be like 50cent or take drugs etc.

*beep* the todays cartoons & stick to whats good.

Yeah, I agree. With 2 exceptions, the new Ninja turtles cartoon (I stopped watching the old show a couple years before it came out) and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight (A Power-rangers-esque show that is superior to Power Rangers) there's nothing good on TV anymore. I have no idea why they don't make shows like this anymore, and there is no excuse. I'm an 80s/90s kind of guy. My most favorites are Transformers (G1 & Beast wars/Machines), Sailor Moon, Thundercats, Reboot, Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM, SWAT Kats, War Planets, Talespin, Gummi Bears, Real Ghostbusters, Ducktales, Voltron, Danger Mouse and more. You were right to talk about the adult appeal of these shows, it's not just me liking them as an adult. My mom watched Beast Wars, Sailor Moon, Reboot, War Planets, Gummi Bears and Danger Mouse with me. I did not ask her to watch them, she just willingly chose to watch them and liked them. My dad also liked watching SWAT Kats & Gargoyles as well as Beast wars with me. Sigh, oh well.

Well in the US at least cartoons are still mostly viewed as kids stuff and not worth much effort or thought. Also the corperates running the shows seem to think that bad Flash animation knock-offs will sell. Aside from Chaotic, its not payed off. And even Chaotic went to standard animation.

Stright up CG shows like Shadow Raiders, Reboot, etc have been mostly overshadowed by the usually poorly done "cell shaded" CG you see alot of now. About the only one I've seen so far with it done passably well in was StormHawks. The rest is mostly prescooler stuff now. Though somes done fairly well.

For a recent more teen to adult CG series. Try the latest Captain Scarlet.

Lets not forget with most of America's animation being abit overshadowed it seems that Anime is what seems to be the only avalibilty these days and that is just getting abit boring now.

I miss Mainframe's cartoons & all of american cartoon greatness.

looking at cartoon network and nicklodeon, it's not anime thats popular it's a bunch graphic crack like cartoons like sponge bob. I know a 26 yr old who watches sponge bob and calls me childish for liking the shows listed here.
