I've been wondering why the team members wear a headset mic as well as a radio similar to what a cop or paramedic might use? I often see them talking into the handheld mic.
I think this is pretty cool.
It's because the team captain and expert aren't supposed to leave the build area, so they can consult while scavenging.
shareThe reason we had two headmic unit is because the one hooked over our ears was used as the program feed to the audio truck (i.e. the sound you hear on the program) and the two-way radio gear hooked onto our overalls is the comms radio we used for the specific team. Each team have their own radio set on seperate allocated TX channels.
The final edit can then seperately merge any audio track as needed.
