Why Are The Frensky's So Poor?

Actually, the same could be said about Binky. Binky's mom is a nurse, and Binky's dad works at a copy center.
These jobs aren't necessarily low wage.

But Francine has the reputation of being "poor". They live in a 2 bedroom apartment (with a storage unit) while Binky lives in a house. Bitzi and Buster's grandmother also live in apartments but they appear to be condos.

Laverne has an unspecified job which I assume to be working at the family business: The Hamburger Castle. (White Castle) I also think that Catherine will spend a few summers working part time at Hamburger Castle as well. (and Francine when she gets older) Otherwise Catherine is Arthur and D.W. and Kate's sitter.

Oliver is clearly working as a gerbage man. He is shown to drive a garbage truck which is not necessarily a low paying job. Also he gives the students a tour during Career Day and also helps clean up the park. In "Arthur Cleans Up" he has his own staff meetings. It's almost as if he is in middle management??

So how could they be that poor?

Medical Bills? Credit Card Debt? Immigration? House burn down In a horrible insurance scheme gone wrong? Perhaps court fees as well? Or did their house get struck by lightning only to find out their policy does not cover lightning?

I agree, a lot of it doesn't make sense. The exact same can be said for Muffy's family. I doubt they're making that much with a used car company in the area they're in, granted a chunk of that money could've been inherited at some point, but still...

I've said it before but I suspect that most of the Crosswire's money comes from Muffy's mom as she was shown as wealthy in the flashback shown in "The Lousy Week", having a nanny and an expensive looking bathtub.

Ah, I remember now. I hadn't seen that episode in a while.

Regarding the Frenskys, I'm re-watching "Poor Muffy" right now and from the sounds of it, Mr. Frensky most likely works part-time so he can spend more time with his family and friends.

Binky's family could have inherited the house from grandparents or another relative. In "Postcards From Binky" he only mentioned one set of grandparents. So the other set may have passe on and left the house to Binky's parents. As far as adopting Mei Lin goes it's possible the Barnes' learned before Binky was born or soon after his birth that they could not have anymore children and started saving up for adoption back then.

Francine's dad seemed happy working as a garbage man. Given that this show is similar to Hey Arnold, I guess Francine's family living in an apartment is similar to how Arnold lived with his grandfather in an apartment.

If Bon Scott of AC/DC was still alive, he would be a Brony.

The mom was probably a stay at home and only Francine's dad probably worked.

Did you ever think that it might be a Condo Francine lives in? I wouldn't say Francine's family is poor, they obviously have less money than the other families in the show but it's a stretch calling them poor.

Muffy's dad might have a chain of used car dealerships.
