just finished watching - were they a couple ? I missed a couple of scenes - were the two lead actresses or lovers or just really best friends ?

Lovers for sure. The DVD version shows a lot more than the Lifetime version. Guilty pleasure, I actually bought the DVD. Oh well, there are worse things to waste money on :)
