I remember HBO showed this one night...

The unrated version too.
I was about 13 years old, AND I COULDN'T STOP WATCHING IT lol.
I remember I thought it was horrible, disgusting etc...
Decided to watch it again just for the hell of it, now I'm just laughing at it. Pretty good dark comedy.

How long ago was this? I do remember in the late 90's and very early 00's that channels like HBO and Cinemax would show Troma films regularly. I do remember reading in Lloyd Kaufman's autobiography ''All I Need to Know About Filmmaking I Learned from the Toxic Avenger'' that films like Tromeo & Juliet didn't make the broadcast because of how graphic it was. I just can't see HBO airing this in it's entirety.

Signatures are overrated.

I'd say this was around 2002 or 2003. Surprisingly they aired this with absolutely no censorship, they even had the full frontal nudity.

Damn. Seeing this on TV would've been a culture shock for me. I wasn't around long before USA's Up All Night was pulled off the air and it wasn't until I was eleven or twelve that my parents let me have a cable box in my room. I'm so used to buying Troma movies or renting them on demand and so far haven't had the pleasure to watch a Troma film on cable television except maybe on G4 once in a while(even then the films are butchered). I wish pay channels like HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, TMC, or Starz did that kind of thing anymore.

Signatures are overrated.

I recall seeing it late at night on HBO's "The Zone" channel and couldn't stop laughing at the fat guy getting eaten by the escalator. Too bad John Waters didn't continue in this direction.

You guys thought HBO showing this was weird? I found the DVD at my local city library. Yes, my library has a damn Troma movie. My city>yours.

I thought it was HBO Zone or HBO 2 that showed it. They usually showed more racy films than the regular HBO did during late evening hours (after 8 central time).

It first aired on Cinemax in 2001 a couple times, then over to HBO for a few airings. Then it was on HBO Zone all the time, from late 2001 into 2002. Used to watch it all the time on those channels. It ran constantly on HBO Zone at night for a while. And yes, they would give it just the R rating before the movie, even though it was the unrated version. That was kinda strange. Starting around '95, Cinemax would regularly play Troma movies. Weird ones too, like Teenage Catgirls In Heat, Dead Dudes In The House, Blood Hook as well as the Toxie's and Nuke'em Highs. They ran them regularly until about 2000, then fizzled it out with Terror Firmer being the last Troma movie they ran (I'm pretty sure). HBO had long stopped showing Troma movies by then and I remember being surprised that Terror Firmer showed up there. I guess it was just too good to pass up! TV isn't as cool as it used to be. The USA Network introduced me to Troma movies on a Saturday afternoon long ago with airings of the first two Toxie movies. Now look at that channel. Yuck...
