Making of

Lelouch drives the car.
They were 3 in the car.
The car was a Mercedes.
They could change the diaphragm of the camera from the car.
It was Lelouch's own car.
They chose a Mercedes because of the suspension . The image was better.
He went up to 200km/h.
The trafic is real.
It was made in one take. One time.
They decided to make the movie during the night, just before making it.
Only at 'Les guichets du Louvres' there was a guy with a walky-talkie to tell if there was a danger. He wanted to call but it didn't work.
He made the run again with a Ferrari, for the sound.
Near the end, when he makes a turn to the right, and sudently decide to carry-on straight, it's because there was a truck blocking the street. Because of that, he was affraid of lacking film because the way he then chose was longer, and he had to go in a own-way the wrong way.
She was his wife.

Well done. Thanx!!
I think that is pretty much everything we need to know about this amazing film!
I just saw it for the first time, and i'm still shaking...
wow!

Let me see if I got this: You're saying that he made the exact same run, braking and accelerating in the exact same places, to get the sound to match exactly? Wow, that may be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read.

And I seriously doubt the "200 km/h" claim. I calculated the distance and time between the Arc de Triumph and Place de la Concorde, and got an average speed of ca. 140 km/h - and that should be the fastest place in the video.

reply

If you watch the video you will find that the sound is not syncronised accurately anyway.

reply

where does he say anything about exact?

reply

Oh, I'm sorry. Approximately, then. That doesn't make the claim any less absurd.

Lelouch himself says that he had to improvise several times because cars were blocking his way (obvious from the video). So he made almost the same run, with the same detours, conveniently NOT being blocked anywhere this time through. Yeah, that sounds likely. When it would be a zillion times easier to just dub the film in a studio.

reply

I agree its absurd that he made the run again with the ferrari to synchronize to this film. I believe he may have made A run and recorded lots of sound in a ferrari, then cut the sound in as closely as possible to match the film(which is why it isn't perfect but doesn't take you out of the film). Especially if he wasn't recording the Ferrari visually it might make more sense to rent a track for safety reasons and Drive around and grab sound.

I'm not sure I understand Why he chose to record the sound with the ferrari since he had access to the Mercedes(you say it was his own personal car). Was it just that he like the idea of the way a Ferrari rumbles and how that enhances the feeling of speed in the film?
