How is Lagaan above Swades on Top 250 ?

Both are good movies. But Swades has 8.5 rating from 31k users, which I know is just 3k less than Lagaan's no.of users, but Lagaan is rated 8.3!!

I don't understand! Something wrong with IMDb?!

I was wondering the same thing...

Maybe its a glitch on IMDb's side. Who knows? Anyway, don't care abt it. Swades is much much better than Lagaan.

Cause they revere Lagaan.

LOL! They "revered" Lagaan my ass! They haven't probably even heard of Aamir Khan (aka Tingu) and you say that they "revered" one of his movie. Simply.. LOL!

Hey, hey, want me to show you that Legendary snap of DiCaprio and Mr. Scorsese with SRK again? huh? hehehehe...

Thank goodness there is a discussion on this. I was wondering the same thing. Swades has 35,218 votes and Lagaan has 35,560. Still Swades at 238 and Lagaan at 207. Clearly I've no idea what's going on!

Swades is my most favorite film till date. Still i think Lagaan deserves to be above it because it's got so much art value.

Movies on the list are selected by IMDb officials considering not just the user ratings but many other aspects such as metascore, rotten tomatoes rating, IMDb jury etc.
So, stop saying that movie with higher user ratings always has to be above in the list. It's not for you to decide, but IMDb.

IMBD is set up to rate American, or Worldwide mass appealing movies... Not Foreign Markets of movies that appeal mostly to Country or Culturally specific Films... Bollywood - is Not Hollywood... And reviewers voting online, is just one fraction of a way of measuring a films mass appeal. A film in India may rate 90- to the Indian market- but may rate 62 in America or worldwide. Just like an American Movie say about Cowboys- may rate high or 90 in America, but may rate Low 55, in Russia, or Africa... There should be a fix in the ratings lists at IMBD. A Country or culture specific list ( Asian, Indian, Latin, Swedish- etc...). Their own IMBD list. Then IMBD could make a WorldWide 250 list of those that transcend Culture or Country... Right now it is a system designed to rate mainly American or Hollywood movies-
