Worse the camera - Better the movie

One of the things that makes finding footage popular among viewers is the quality of the camera or more precisely the low quality of the camera. First, it's increases the 'authenticity' of the film by showing us a video shooting filmed by unprofessional person. Makes us believe that it is an average person who got into an event bigger than him and everyone else around him. The fact that not all paranormal activity caught on camera make it more believable. Second, the quality of the photography and the quality of the camera compensates for the low budget. It makes us imagine things, instead of just seeing them (and maybe be disappointed) - that's the secret of finding footage genre. Last, the darkness, the shaky camera, the unprofessional shooting angles all this makes the experience much more confusing, unexpected, dark, scary and disturbing.
