Terrible Movie

Am I the only one who thinks that??jeeezzz the acting was terrible and so was the story. Totally unbelievable how Kim and Maggie hooked up, they got it off almost right away. They didn't even know each other. Same goes for the mom who met that transvestite, they we're acting familiar and they DIDN"T KNOW EACH OTHER either, wtf??? Is that some kind of US thing or something, or some free-spirited-gay-thing?? Anyway this would all be okay and overlooked if the actors did a good job, but i thought the acting was infantile..like they were reading the autocue.
I'm reading all these topics at the board here but I seem to be the only one who disliked it!or am i wrong?

Peter Griffin: You know those Germans; if you don't join the party, they come get you.

i think the SAME thing when i see a movie like this...

it happens ALOT in the L Word.

At first I was like, THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN!

but unfortunaltely it DOES...

most of the time alot of the lesbians (at least where I'm from) hook up within the same night. its very strange and surreal, but it happens... which is why i love this movie.

if you watch the commentary for this movie they explain why mom and transvestite seem like they've known each other for years.... their personality, and situations.

i DO think the acting is horrible though.

but then again everything was filmed on a low budget... so.. i guess what you get is low quality?

This is a Canadian film. While this film had its share of flaws at times, I enjoyed watching it, and consider it to be a good light-hearted film which brings forth emotions ranging from humor to frustration. Individual personality of the viewer probably determines whether or not they overlook the flaws and enjoy this film.

Maximus: Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?

i'm not sure if it was just because i'd heard alot about this film and had high expectations or if it was really that bad, but yeah i was dissapointed too! the story line was boring and it was just a very unsatisfying film.

charming, refreshingly liberal and intelegent enough with it to take pot-shots at Anti-Porn Lesbians in Canada who brought in laws that ended with Lesbian books being labeld as indecent and stoped at customs.

What more do you want?

i actually have a very polarized veiw of this movie. i found the acting convincing in its subtlety and simplicity. the expressions and tones say so much more than the words could. the tenderness, anger, awkwardness and everything else is perfectly played. the transgendered character portrayal was very accurate. she was so controlled of herself, trying slightly too hard for the voice, outgoing on stage and nervous in life... its very true to the way many transgendered individuals live. the meeting and quick falling is something very common in our commnity. love at first sight is somethiing that seems to be a an almost spiritual belief the portrayal was very close to reality. this movie was the perfect movie for me. the artist living her life the same way i wish i could (dream van included) the disillusioned student dropout, the mother in denile and fear over her surroundings and life, the awkward proceedings of a tg in a lesbian community. it was like a slice out of my own life (except i live in the state of georgia in the us, not in canada) the ending was a bit over happy and unrealistic, i mean honestly coffe boy would have died, but it was nice to have it work out differently. i mean attacks happen all the time, and we dont always die. so it was cool that they did the ending like they did.

overall. i love love love this movie.

it was a welcome repreive from the constant meandering trash poured out by big studios. it didnt feel plastic or popcorn, no glamourous overdramatic portrayals of stereotyping... just simple lives from a crosscut of one community...
