Boards of Canada relation with this film

The cover of the EP "Twoism" form the band Boards of Canada is a still from this film. The film's budget was not very large, as can be inferred by the way motorcycle gear and helmets were intended to pass as "spacesuits". You can just see the black "breathing tube" coming from the helmet of the character on the right, hanging down under the chin, though it's mostly behind the helmet. The frame is taken from about 5 minutes from the end of the film; Captain Young is on the left, and Dr Saunders (female) on the right; at this point in the film, these are the only 2 left alive. In the film, there are a few sequences where, as seen from the "baddies'" perspective, the astronauts are seen wandering about on the landscape as though viewed through a fish-eye lens. Interestingly, some of BoC's own photos of themselves are in that style.

Yes, the guys from Boards Of Canada must have really liked this film (as I did). Judging by the subdued, washed out, unique color palette and visual style, the seemingly peripheral, cheap and practical but somehow hauntingly iconic production design/art direction (from the spacesuits and helmets to the interior space station and ship corridors and rooms, the odd moods, the cinematography, the shot composition style and especially the sound of the film score (composed by co-director Bob Emenegger) it's easy to see definite similarites of sensiblities to Board's Of Canada's (as seen/heard in their album covers, video pieces and music itself). Everything about this film seems to be very much on the same wavelength as Boards Of Canada's self imposed style. It is also very possible that they might have even sampled some of Emenegger's score for the "Twoism" EP. There are especially similar sounds present in the EP’s title track "Twoism".

KAOZ is beautiful in a melancholy kinda way. As is Twoism.
