2000 dollars

All this nonsense over 2,000 dollars... Not one could help her out in this rich miserable world... Movie was stupid.

She doesn't even seem to have asked for help. I know that was a lot more money back then, but I can't imagine that she wouldn't have been able to get help for a child who had a treatable condition that would make him blind otherwise.

It was not 2000$. It was the same exact amount that the eye doctor was willing to accept to help her son. That has great significance.Either the sleazy lawyer aspect or the terrible coincidence of it all.

That's $2,000 in 1964 Dollars, which would be $15,309.06 today. Not easy money for a factory worker.

I thought so for a long time, a year, then I re-watched this same film with different experiences from life and cried the whole way, its a beautiful film if you have felt such unconditional love for someone.
