No oscar nod for Bjork ?!?

Oh my F* God!!!How come?!?

The Academy sucks.... that's why.

the SONG was nominated - "I've Seen It All"

reply

I was gutted that she was not nominated. She was excellent.

reply

She probably was not campaigned for.

reply

She was campaigned. I think the Academy were reluctant to nominate a very alternative, somewhat kooky singer for best actress, but she was certainly in the running, and was one of the six or seven top contenders for a nomination. The song nod was a token gesture, and she was there in that infamous swan costume.

reply

I think she played one of the best roles an actress has ever played.
She is absolutely wonderful and sweet as Selma.
But you know, the Academy is wrong most of the times.
By the way, who won the Oscar for best leading actress that year?

(Sorry for my English)

honestly the only performance except for Ellen Bursten in Requiem for a dream that was robbed of an oscar

reply

renee zellweger deserved a nom more than bjork in my opinion, she was the *real* snub that year.

"they should give nicole kidman an oscar for being able to show any emotion after THAT much botox".

reply

The Oscars are a joke and so is Bjork!

reply

Having just watched the film again after a number of years, I am still rivetted by Bjork's performance !
I cannot believe that her performance didn't at least warrant an Oscar nomination ?
And the Oscar winner was Julia Roberts ????

reply

I dont remenber the other nominees that year, but Bjork certainly made a hell of a job here.

SALUTATIONS FROM BRAZIL.

The actress who *should* have won that year was Ellen Burstyn for Requiem For A Dream, though I think Bjork was wonderful in Dancer.

Bjork is my pick for Best Actress that year. Out of the nominated roles, Ellen Burstyn should have won for Requiem for a Dream. Julia Roberts carried Erin Brockovich well, but Ellen was in an entire league above the other nominees.
