Banned?

For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why the Communist government banned this movie (as claimed on the DVD case).

***-POSSIBLE, BUT UNLIKELY SPOILER-***

Why was the cemetery filled with (Christian?) crosses shown at the end, when most if not all of the people killed there were Jews? Was it a more practical grave marker than making a Star of David?
