The Goof Nobody Caught

Perhaps this was already discussed, but I doubt it because most people tell me they never noticed...

Plot continuity: In the tuxedo fitting scene, Harper and Quentin are both in the mirror when Harper asks, "Your father still grooming you for the hospitality business?"

Quentin: "...yeah. But that sh!ts not for me. Complaining @ss guests, receipts, invoices-"

Harper: "...too much like a real job, huh?"

Quentin: "You know what your problem is man? You judge and criticize everybody else's sh!t but your own. You f__king Jordan tonight, remember? Jordan!"

Here's where they messed up. Harper was quite taken aback and caught off guard when Jordan kissed him and proposed sleeping with him for that night-but it wasn't until the NEXT SCENE! The scene where they were at the church wedding rehearsal and Jordan's little proposal in the church hallway directly followed the tuxedo fitting scene.

When I watch the movie again, I'll try to catch that.

i peeped that, but i thought he was just assuming that. Plus throughout the movie it seemed like Quentin knew everything before it even happened and just wanted it to take its natural course. Like when he knew Harper slept with Mia, but he didn't say anything to Lance or anybody else to the crew, cause he knew that it would come to the light.

reply

I caught that too! I actually put that in the goofs for imdb but for whatever reason it wasn't approved and they didn't post it. Glad to know I'm not the only one who noticed that.

reply

I saw it and didn't realize it...spit happens LOL.

wait a minute. i've seen the film but i'm lost. explain it again!

"I don't wanna marry her for her money, but I don't know how else to get it!"

reply

I don't believe this was an editing goof. Like someone else said, this was Quentin making an obvious assumption. He knew and Harper knew that that was where Harper and Jordan's relationship was heading since it had never happened before but almost. That was just the next obvious step in their (Harper and Jordan's) friendship and the whole purpose of the flashback scene when they were dancing to Stevie Wonder.

I agree that it was just Quintin being Quintin.

The worst goof for me is that Lance flips the table when he jacks up Quintin, but when he gets up to go to the bathroom, all the cards are still on the table.

reply

I second that. It wasn't a goof. Lance tells Harper earlier that him and Jordan are going to do it. Quentin just made an observation. It was kind of known to everyone prior to Jordan making the declaration.

I caught that too. It was a real goof. But I love this movie, one of the best. I went to the movies by myself to see the sequel and I was so glad, all the orginals were in place. And how well they all looked after 15 years.
