Martin Luther King Jr. move over, your successor has arrived?

This movie gave me an insight into urban black culture beyond anything I have known before. Before, ignorant to the strife of young black people in our self-centered and self-regarding culture, my eyes have finally been opened.

There I put the question, could this movie have more of an impact on the progression of black culture than MLK Jr., Maya Angelou or Rosa Parks perchance?

Judging from the number of threads about this film I’m gonna say......nope.

You better do more research, cousin. This is easily one of the worst movies Ive seen in a long time. The story is shallow and the acting is atrocious. I wasnt sure if it was supposed to be a comedy or a drama. It certainly wasnt funny but there seemed to be alot of unintentional comic moments.

I wish there were more and better movies about West Indian culture in England. There are plenty of successful movies about East Indian life in the U.K. (Bend it Like Beckham, East is East, etc.) but there arent any good movies about the black residents of Great Britain.

Couldn't agree more. It was impossible to feel sympathy towards the main character considering her shallow and contradictory behavior.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.
