Best Movie NEVER watched

One of the best movies of 1998 (dare i say THE best...) and no one knows about it. It's just below the belt of being truly original, yet its lacking in some respects. I'm guessing (by the fact that this is the first post) that no one appreciates the keeness of this new indie-like classic...but hey, if there are posts for the From Justin to Kelly (god help us all....), it's only right that there should be 1 for this as well.

plus Adrien Grenier and Aleksa Palladino are super-duper hot n' sexy

I agree, it is a good movie though it does however lack a major plotline.

I liked the characters more than anything, and the fact that it seemed like it could have actually been a movie from the 1980s. Adrien was probably the best thing about the movie (from a girl's point of view anyway)

reply

i loved the movie, i didn't think that it was lacking a major plotline. I thought it sort of had a slow meandering plot, in that respect it was kind of like a really good book. I thought that the characters were so real that you could have them all in the same small town and the story itself would unfold. Just a really great movie.

Agree with Funkblade. Very good plot. Well thought out characters. Very good acting. However, no boobies or explosions, so not a hit movie for the masses.
Sebastian Cole: 8/10

reply

that's the pity of american indie movies
They just never catch attention from the media.
Think this movie should had went thru Sundance or something.
Good plot and good acting.

reply

I love the meandering plot, because the end wraps it up so nicely. what a great movie!
And Adrian Grenier is probably the best thing about the movie from a guy's perspective too - he's basically why I rented it, but then the movie turned out to actually be awesome!

yannow it's funny, not one poster here seems to dislike the movie, including myself, yet it has quite the horrible rating... who's voting here?

reply

It's a really special film, it reminds one of being 15.
I was howling when he performed karate. "What about those Karate lessons i took?" "Oh yeah, with DR. WOO"
great movie with a very undrrated sensibility and humour.

The only part I didn't like was when Henrietta died at the end. Why did they have to ruin the ending? The movie is still great, though.

reply

I really dig on the part where Troy is looking at chicks through binoculars and says "I'm just scouting the talent amigo, I'm doing my homework."

I also love when Henrietta boxes that one guy up at the batting cages and says, "Joe, you touch my kid again I'll put you in the fcking hospital, you can try it with me anytime you piece of *beep* also when he throws out the "Semper Fi man"

This movie is definitely underrated.

I saw this movie over the weekend and hated it - just wanted to let you know that there are people who do. Oh, and for those who fall back on the "if you like MTV this isn't for you...watch Justin and Whomever" argument just because someone else doesn't like a film that you do, why is it that the only blurb they could get for the video cover was from MTV Radio? Is there even such a thing as MTV Radio?

reply

Whenever a person suggests, "If you don't like this movie, then watch Justin and Kelly..." Really, they are trying to be sympathetic to your needs. Understanding that some people from this particular MTV generation may not have the attention span to watch certain movies compared to the prior MTV generation. Harm was not meant nor intended...

reply

let's face it this movie is a character study. Nothing more. It has well defined characters, good acting and good actors. This movie will be watched years from now and still have something to say. I really like it.

Totally agree LOL hehe
It's end reminds me somehow the ending of Fight Club, although are totally different movies.
Well not so much, The Adventures... is kind of contestatary too.
Perhaps i'm just mad
Greets.

reply

yeah this film has Sundance written all over it.
the reason it reminds you of the end of 'fight club' is because they used the same song for the end. Using the same track at the same moment in a film only a year apart is weird.
good movie though... i love it. vince kills it

reply

vince? haha

reply

I totally agree!! This movie really deserves more recognition. I love it.
