Lena Headey did such a good Scot's accent that I was surprised she was not a native. She was wonderful as a cocaine-addicted, angry, distant young professional. Stellan Skarsgård was remarkably convincing as an alcoholic, stoic individual. The scenery is so beautiful (in Scotland and Norway). The movie was so funny, but at the same time so sad. One of the best I have seen though it was hard to get.

No she didn't at all. The accent may sound Scottish, but it's not appropriate to northern Scotland at all.
shareLena Headey is a great actor. Why she hasn't appeared in more top quality films completely confounds me. Aberdeen would have gone nowhere but the $2 dollar bin at Wal Mart had anyone else portrayed Kaisa. Although American, I am in contact with Scots on a weekly basis and I can honestly say her Scottish accent was right on.
Lena starred in a Sci Fi made for TV series recently here in the states. Terminator 3, 4 or 5, hell I lost track. But as always, she made the best of it and was completely believable in her role. Directors had better start beating her door down lest a great talent is wasted.
Stellan Skarsgard was also fantastic in this film. But what else is new?
