please let stephen fry take over the show. i think he'd be brilliant. so much better than parky. no offence - he'd brign a touch of class to celebrity interviews. intelligent humour.

I think you don't understand why Parkinson works so well as a host of a show like this. Fry has too much ego to work as a replacement for Michael Parkinson, and not enough interest in the work of the wide range of people who would be his guest.
Of all the people I have seen, the only person who could come close to Parky would be an Australian called Andrew Denton. The interviews that I've seen him do are wonderful.
I live in Aus i'd have to say Denton is the only person on par with Parky, and Parkinson's said it himself.
I don't think Denton will take over though...he's stopped doing his show "enough rope" so he can work on other amazing things such as "the gruen transfer" which he produces
