Oh em jiiiiii!!!!!!! CUPID is coming back

yay.

i know i know. the pivster being on it has chances of slim to none but some CUPID is better than no CUPID at all.

it will just be a shame if they revive it and cancel it again.

itll be more stupid than ABC greenlighting cavemen

For shame for not providing a link:

Although, you shouldn't feel too shamed. Rob hasn't even updated his own website with the news.

I worshipped the ground that Cupid/Piven walked on. But oddly enough, I genuinely wish they would not bring it back.

Reason: They'll fork it up.

1) They would have to get Piven for even a chance for it to work. No one else could possibly recreate Trevor Hale. Could you imagine a gork like Dane Cook or a fossil like Robin Williams trying?

What I don't understand is why would it be so hard to get Piven. Does anyone really think that Entourage would go on indefinitely? I like Entourage, but I have a problem believing its such a blockbuster there's no way Piven couldn't be lured away with more money. And Piven is totally replaceable in THAT show.

While I'd still want Paula Marshall back, you still could make a creditable attempt at resurrecting the show without her. But you're really jeopardizing the chemistry that show had.

2) There's only three reasons why that show was great. Piven, a good enough supporting cast, and AMAZING writing. I suspect Rob shot his load with that show, and realize, its an EXTREMELY narrow form of plot (romantic comedy).

3) It "failed" before. Granted, horrific management was the reason. But realize that TV execs are obscene, soulless, money-grubbing sociopaths that should be put to death, and you will still have TV execs (though a different team of Satan worshippers) making life and death decisions concerning the show. The major market for that show were chicks, and I doubt that they neglected calculating the market value of that group back in 1998. Perhaps the environment is different in 2007 if there is more narrowcasting of advertisers (and I'm only presuming there is), and its now the age of "Reality-TV" (but that would only more likely kill the show. Could you imagine those *beep* matching it against American Idol??? Sadly, I can.) You'd have to have at least a 4 share, and I doubt it was that high back in 1998.

4) I've always imagined a Cupid return as a 2hr episode, setting it years later with Trevor about to make his 100th match. I'd have him eventually hook up with Claire making him human (and perhaps never revealing whether he really was a God). Then option the thing off to Lifetime or the Romance channel.

But it can't work without Piven. Thomas would have to have someone utterly amazing in mind to replace Piven in the role. And if he does a recreation from scratch, its still gonna need a Cupid-level performance while managed by Satanists. Looking at the bright side, perhaps after trying to launch that desecration, ABC would finally allow a DVD-set release of the original Cupid.

Seems doubtful that Piven will be involved. He has movie commitments in addition to Entourage. He made the show. I can't imagine who else they'd cast to play Trevor. David Schwimmer? Olympus forbid!

Don't tase me, bro!

Piven wins an Emmy every year for his work on "THAT show." Entourage is very popular and if you've ever seen it you would know that it'd be impossible for anyone else to play the role of Ari Gold.

No, I don't want a new version of Cupid with new actors.
Piven & Marshall are the only ones to play those characters.
I just want DVD of the original.
