Distribution possibilities?

I remember watching this show as a kid after school, on a local religious channel. It was wonderful.. not to mention it seemed to stick really close to the book and fleshed it out alot more than any of the following movies have.

I've seen some other interest around the internet of people trying to track the episodes down... Guess I'm just wondering if any of the old Nippon Animation classics will ever be released to dvd in America?

I watch this on Smile of a Child now (I'm 32 years old, by the way, but I grew up watching it on HBO and HAD to see it again). Everything about this series is stunning. Nippon Animation shows seem to be popular everywhere in the world except the U.S., for some reason; Swiss Family Robinson and Tom Sawyer were the only other World Masterpiece Theater series that made it here it all.

I will say though, that I don't care for the English theme song. The Japanese opening songs (there are two of them) are much better, in fact the first one (Wakakusa no Shoutaijou) is going through my head as I type this.

If a DVD were ever released (hopefully with the Japanese vocal track included), I would snap it up in a second.

Speaking of Nippon Animation, I'm still waiting for someone here to pick up Future Boy Conan... and that's a Hayao Miyazaki work so it should be a slam dunk, but no one seems interested.
