Does anyone know the name of the electronica instrumental played near the beginning (and then thoughout the film)? I believe it first starts up when Sam is being driven across a bridge and the weather report comes on the radio.
It sounds very familiar, but I just can't place the artist. Can anyone please help?
yes..the song is called 'chase'..it was done by giorgio moroder..the music was originally composed for the movie 'midnight express' starring brad davis...I got the extended play back in the early 80s..must go on for like 15 min on the extended play vinyl...

Oddly enough, it seems that there's American talk show host (Art Bell) who uses the song as the opening theme for his program. I discovered this purely by accident when I was offline for a week or so and found myself listening to heavy doses of AM (MW in Europe) to help fill in the time. I could hardly believe my ears when I heard the song fading in during the opening of a radio program...
For a 25+ year-old tune, it still seems to hold up well. It's one of those songs you'll hear from time-to-time (just often enough to drive you insane if you don't know the title and artist!). It's really too bad that RDS didn't catch on in America, so that listeners could find the artist/title of the song currently playing on their radio.
Of course, I'll have to look for the extended play vinyl now that you've dangled the bait.
