enjoyably scary, but these are things that bothered me (spoilers)

It really bothered me that Jane didn't call the exterminator while the police were there to confirm there had been a hole in the floor. And how could it have been completely repaired with no sign of it in so short a time?

When Jane was fighting for her life with the crazy neighbor in the hall, she didn't scream once--she seemed to be trying not to wake the others in the building. Never mind, you'd think Shelley Duvall would have heard the commotion, anyway, and looked out.

After reports from Jane of all sorts of harassment from the neighbor, the police made only a feeble effort to get access to the neighbor's apt, and didn't believe her.

Again, while under attack by the crazy neighbor, Jane made one try to use her phone--got a busy signal--and threw it down in disgust, instead of keeping it with her and trying again. Was she calling 911?

Why did the painter/locksmith across the way wait until everything was over (probably weeks later) to tell her about what he had seen?

What was the super constantly repairing in the hall--was that supposed to mean something?
