DVD sound quality

I just got the complete series box set and all the episodes on the season 2, part 3 discs (which make up the final 16 episodes of season 2) have horrible audio quality. Everyone's voices sound muffled, kind of like if someone recorded the sound on a video camera while it played on TV or old VHS tapes. I emailed Shout! Factory and they told me it was the master copies and it wasn't a defective disc problem. The only thing is that I have a few of those episodes recorded on my DVR and the sound is perfectly fine. So I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with those specific discs?

you know, Shout Factory also released the 80s show Small Wonder

Season 2 had several flickers where the picture blacked out.

They said it was a masters issue

yet it airs in Syndication on Antenna TV without those flickers

it's weird

I have the complete series on DVD. The sound quality was just fine for me when I watched it.
