Wouldn't this make a fantastic live-action movie?

Think about it. I think they could make a movie with real people that would blow audiences away. Of course there wouldn't be as much education in it, but they could really make a cool adventure film. I think I'd pick Demi Moore to play Carmen. What do you think?

reply

no, it would suck. but if it was live action why can't a hispanic actress play a hispanic part?

reply

Selma Hayek would be perfect.

reply

Perfectly could be Sophie Ellis Bextor with long hair. Just see her eyes.

reply

If carmen was supposed to be hispanic they didnt really do anything to show that. They picked the name carmen sandiago because it sounded exotic but little kids could pronounce it. Even though she was voiced by a hispanic actress she didnt have an accent whatsoever and came off as pure white bread. For some reason they show this on the Black Family Channel despite not having even one minority character.

reply

Well Carmen IS Hispanic the producers just didn't make such a big deal about her ethnicity which I'm quite happy about. I think a young up and coming Latina should play the role I like it when Hollywood uses people we really don't know for major roles like this.

reply

I thought there was an episode that referred to her being Hispanic, if I remember they were in a country down from USA and as she was infiltrating some rich guys house it's in some scene where he denies her being his daughter due to her reign on criminal activities.

But yeah it would be an interesting live action movie. Possibly in the vien of Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider.

May the Force be with you. Always

reply

I believe it was Argentina

They ARE. IMDB search Carmen Sandiego.

I wish someone hadn't heard your plea.

reply

As soon as I saw this thread's subject on the board I thought "DEMI MOORE!". No idea why, she just flashed right on into my head (and that's never happened before so I'm feeling a little freaked).

I don't see any reason why the potential leading lady "has to be Hispanic". How many Hispanic actresses were up for the lead in 'Evita' before Madonna nabbed it, took it, ran with it, span round a bit and shouted a lot then grabbed herself a Golden Globe?

reply

When I do IMDb search on "Carmen Sandiego," I don't find anything more recent than the 1990s.

I guess it's been canceled.

Bull pocky! Angelina Jolie.

reply

I was thinking that! I previously saw her in Tomb Raider and thought, "Nah, she's not Lara Croft--she's Carmen Sadiego!" XD

Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.

reply

How about Roselyn Sanchez as Carmen?

reply

i think catherine zeta jones

reply

Don't get me wrong.I like CZJ but I think she's a little too old to play Carmen now.CZJ is 37 while Carmen is in her late 20's or early 30's

reply

yeah..you're right:D

Well, if a live action Carmen Sandiego movie were to be made, I think it would be for the best if it was made as an Comedy-Adventure film.

My greatest film making fantasy is to write and produce a live action Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?

reply

I think my three main choices to play Carmen Sandiego would be Demi Moore, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and/or Famke Janssen.

reply

I would love Catherine Zeta-Jones or Angelina Jolie.

reply

Definitely would have to have comedy :D

reply

I wouldn't mind seeing this, it would get pegged as an Indy knock-off but the last Indiana Jones film was so horrible it wouldn't matter anymore.

I agree that the actress should be Latina but I just don't know who yet. If they did cast a white actress I would go with Kate Beckinsale that someone mentioned earlier.

The problem with casting Angelina is that she is far too skinny now and it would just become another Angelina suck fest (not in the good way either). She hasn't made a decent film in well over a decade.

Try not to take life too seriously, no one gets out alive.

reply

I always though Monica Bellucci would be perfect for the role. However, someone mentioned it should be action/comedy and I disagree with that. Because both shows were light hearted family oriented, I think the movie should be the opposite. I'm not talking rated R, but there has to be some seriousness and action. Remember that the show doesn't have much of a story line so they will have to make one up.
I would hate for DISNEY to have the rights to make this film. They would ruin it.

I think now is the perfect time to think about making this film.

And you are totally right about Angelina Jolie. I can't remember the last film of hers I actually thought was good.

Dam U IMDB! I can't get any work done with you around!

reply

Penelope Cruz.

Jennifer Lopez is officially connected, but word is that she will produce and not star.

Which is too bad because I wouldn't mind Jennifer Lopez as Carmen. Now for the Chief, we need someone who can match Lynn Thigpen because it's going to be tough to top her.

reply

What about C.H. Pounder from The Shield?

But, it wouldn't nescessarily need to be a recreation of Lynn Thigpin... why not take the movie in the '94 series' direction with the CGI Chief and everything?

The movie should be a few years after the cartoon show.

Eva Longoria. Boom.

When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

reply

It's not a bad premise for a movie, but in these days Carmen would HAVE to be played by a Hispanic actress.

reply

I feel like now that they've made a series where she's a good guy you couldn't make it faithful to the premise of this show or the original games since every person that loved that newest show would be getting angry that she's a villain.
