This was an excellent sci fi, but why did they have to mix it all the religious crap?

Faith in God or faith in science. You have to have faith in something. Most everyone does. They were just respecting and trying to appeal to all of their demographic. A bit of the poet to balance the warrior maybe...

all the religious crap?

in 3 Seasons and 66 episodes I'm thinking of 2 (maybe 3) episodes that dealt with Religion...

1. the Back-stepper Played by Robert Picardo (Voyager) who was all but stated to be the Devil

2. Frank 'possessing' the Pope (which frankly borders on sacrilegious)

where is "all the religion"?
