Another Reason to Hate Riker

And all this time I thought I just hated Will Riker. How on earth do you take a can't miss project like Thunderbirds and turn it into a laughable piece of crap? Somebody beam Frakes out into deep space.

Why is it the director that gets all the blame? This was Frakes first motion picture outside the Star Trek franchise. He didn't write the bloody thing, probably had no say in the screenplay at all. The script was flawed, not the directing. He just did his best with what he had. First Contact and Insurrection in my opinion are brilliant movies so Frakes is more than capable of making a good film. Thunderbirds was crap because it was written for little kids. Shoot the writers not the director.

Ah but if the film was marvellous you would be the first to sing his praises. Can't have it both ways.

That's what's known as fanboi-ism.

I've seen many *beep* movies where the direction and production were the problem but the actual script is brilliant. Just annoying when it's the director that automatically gets all the blame. Frakes is definitely not perfect but there were so many things wrong with this film, even the casting was bollocks.

Can't miss?! Are you basing that on the original series as an inspiration for this film or the actual script of this?

If it's the first, keep in mind that by the time Frakes was attached to this, the damage was done. I'm not sure what he could have done to rescue it. And if it's the second, I'm not sure what you thought was so great about this project that it could be considered "can't miss." Obviously I disagree in either case. I'm just curious which one you meant.
