It's available on DVD . . . http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006RCMV/qid=1142284869/sr=11-1/ref=sr_11_1/104-6462857-3623928?n=130.

It's a fairly good existential play, with a very good cast. Worth checking out.

Cool. About time they get this on DVD! Thanks for the info.

The idea was stolen from Sartre's 'No Exit'. It's more famous for skin than for content. Pretty tame stuff by today's standards.

reply

Are you sure it was "stolen"? How is "No Exit"?

reply

While you may say it was "stolen" from no Exit--it is a great deal more accessible than Sartre’s play and for this reason alone it is worth the viewing, not to mention some really good performances. The skin aspect is tame by today’s standards, but the point of the play is as contentious as ever.

It ain't a movie, it's a two act stage play, but the camera roams around the stage and does the two-shot, long shot, and other movie-like scenes. It's terrific -- funny -- and provocative -- it's taken me many, many years to relate the title to Hell beyond the bath house. It caused me to respect Bill Bixby for the first time.

I miss Big Band music and talented singers. Leonard Cohen is my idol. Civility, harmony, unity!

Saw it in 1973; just saw it again thanks to Netflix. It holds up, and damn, Valerie Perrine was both hot and sweet. I miss Bill Bixby. And Jose Perez -- I'd forgotten how good he was.
