How did he find Cole?

In the beginning Bruce Willis has Coles file,

Fist, how is he able to carry around the file, also how did he get the file?

reply

Cole's sixth sense attracted him. Malcolm didn't really have a file on Cole, he just made up the file in his head because he saw in Cole another Vincent.

. How did Malcolm still have an office (and have access to it) within the time lapse after he was shot?

. How would he not know he was dead if Cole's Mom didn't acknowledge him, how did he get in Cole's Home and not notice he isn't invited in by her?

. How did he shatter the glass on the Jewelry Store window?

His office was nothing more but a desk and a file cabinet in his own basement. I'm sure his wife still left them there. He accessed it by imagining he opened the door, but in reality a ghost can pass through it.

How would he not know he was dead if Cole's Mom didn't acknowledge him, how did he get in Cole's Home and not notice he isn't invited in by her?

As the movie said, ghosts only see what they want to see. He either imagined that the mother acknowledged him somehow or that she was too upset about the problems with her son to directly interact with him.

How did he shatter the glass on the Jewelry Store window?

The movie shows that at times ghosts can interact with the physical world, especially if they're angry. Most likely his energy caused him to shatter the window. Maybe he used his fist, maybe he threw a rock or maybe it was more "telepathic" and he didn't even realize he broke the window.

The ghosts exist in a dreamlike state of limbo. "see what they want to see" is the simple explanation the kid gives, but really, it's more like a dream. 'Time' is not constant, you move from scene to scene never really questioning the strangeness of it all.

I often assumed he had an appointment. Cole's mom knew something was wrong with him so I always thought she had scheduled an appointment with him. Then he just showed up for the appointment

She actually seemed to be rather in denial about his problems until later in the movie. Also, if Cole had an appointment with Malcolm, then why didn't he go to another psychiatrist? He had been dead for quite a while.

reply

He had been dead for a year though.
