LOTR Soundtrack website - announcement

well folks, they say all good things come to an end and it seems two are ending this year.

If you haven't seen the notice at the top of the page, these boards are shutting down. I want to say I've really enjoyed talking LOTR on the three trilogy movie boards and there have been some really insightful and in depth conversations here. I've made a few friends here, such as the internet allows.

But the second closing is my LOTR soundtrack website, A Magpie's Nest. http://amagpiesnest.com/

I was holding off on making more public announcements for a few more weeks but we don't have a few more weeks.

Spread the word about the website closing down. Questions are probably best directed to me personally. I figure anyone who's a fan of the site knows how to get ahold of me. :-)

For such is the way of it: to find and lose, as it seems to those whose boat is on the running stream.

I'll miss you guys.

"I'll miss you guys."

And we you. Very sorry to hear about your site. The discussions can move to TORN but your site was one of a kind. Thanks again. D (well, J)

all good things, as they say. I found this while wandering around the site:

July 2011

When I wrote about endings after finishing the cue by cues for the final ROTK OST tracks back in 2005, the end felt like it was right around the corner. It's been seven years since I wrote that and I think, for the first time, I can imagine THE END. It seems fitting. I already feel a bit of an anachronism in other areas and, at some point, the music for The Hobbit is going to capture everyone's attention. They'll still listen to the LOTR score, I have no doubt. But will they want to read about it and talk about it or will they either be all talked out or just have shiny new things to talk about?

The site is not 'done'. Not yet. I even wonder if I will ever reach 'done'. There are no publishers or distribution people waiting to 'take it away'. I suppose the site's fate will be that of the Elves.. to fade away when it's time here is done... when the enthusiasm and interest in the soundtrack fades away. Until then, my journey continues.

I'm working on an archived version of the site I can offer people .. for those that are interested.
