Lyrics

Hi, love this 'film' by the way. Anywho, does anyone know the lyrics to the working song young Pip sings to Miss havisham and Estalla? It also plays at the end, through the credits- The tune's in my head, but i don't know the words. Thanks in advance

I don't know all of it, but it starts out with "Hammer boys 'round old clem."
Well, at least you'll be able to sing the first line of it! :)

Thanks. Well, at least there are a few words to go with my constant humming! I can't get it out of my head!

' 'Cause Penny and me like to roll the windows down...'

It's an awesome TV-broadcast-turned-into-a-movie. I wish more people would see it, but let's face it, people nowadays prefer what's hip to classical literature. Have you read the book? What do you think happens to Pip and Estella--do they part forever or overcome the odds and live happily ever after? I think it's the second choice--I hope so, anyway. To me, it's totally obvious in the way Dickens structured his words at the end.

I agree. Love the series but ir's not exactly as popular as the 1995 Pride and Prejudice(which is great too) I've seen part of the Ethan Hawke/Gweneth Paltrow version and it stinks! I was falling to sleep!
I hope they live happily ever after- Well, you can tell they will in this version bu, i haven't read all of the book though

' 'Cause Penny and me like to roll the windows down...'

If you're still looking for the lyrics (it's in Chapter 12 of the book):
Hammer boys round - Old Clem!
With a thump and a sound - Old Clem!
Beat it out, beat it out - Old Clem!
With a clink for the stout - Old Clem!
Blow the fire, blow the fire - Old Clem!
Roaring dryer, soaring higher - Old Clem!

Then there was a star danced and under that was I born.
