I enjoyed this movie very much.
I had a small observation.
Some parts of this movie were similar to SAW.
before you start, IM not saying saw ripped of this or anything, i am merely suggesting that Mr. Wan may have seen this movie and gotten some ideas for SAW from it.

the televisions
the weird torture machines

all that jazz.

pretty cool

or maybe he never saw this or has even ever heard of it.

I completely agree with you. It totally reminded me of "Saw". The "trap" room, the torture devices, the over the top murders, the t.v.s, etc.

James Wan owes to this movie a lot.

"Hate is baggage, life's too short to be pissed off all the time".

That's the first thing I thought of during the scene where they use the camera flash to light up the room.
