when was the FIRST time you saw this movie? Where were you? What did you

think.

ME: DVD rental 2002-ish , alone in my apartment.
Scared the heck outta me and had me trying to figure it out after it was over..... My first conclusion was that Betty came to Hollywood, made it big, then got corrupted and ruined by it. Also thought she was on drugs. But I was left with a pile of unanswered questions.....

I saw it in the theater on opening night.

My response to my friends was something along the lines of "I have no idea what that was about but I can't wait to see it again."

I had the same response when I saw Lost Highway for the first time.

Though with MD I did get the sense of innocence lost and an illusion shattered compliments of the Hollywood grind machine.

Every viewing after the first continues to reveal different insights and inspire new ideas.

Four or five years ago. I was sixteen, we had just gotten Netflix, and I thought the film sounded cool. My dad said it was pretty weird. I watched it, loved it, and it singlehandedly began my serious interest in film. 10+ viewings later and it's still my favorite film

I saw it the week it opened in the theater. I thought it was the most brilliant thing I had ever seen. I didn't understand it, but it was amazing. I wouldn't shut up about it, I dragged as many friends as I could to see it. It's still one of my favorite films. To me it was all things Lynchian coming together in a perfect vision/hallucination.

i was just browsing through blu-ray.com to find something to watch cause i was really bored and then i stumbled on this movie and i had never heard of it before. i just saw that its score and recommendation got 5/5 so i just went ahead and decided to watch it, without knowing the slightest information about it... heck, i didn't even check its imdb page

I saw it in the theater when it was released because of a five star review I read at the time in Empire magazine. It's the only film I've ever walked out of (somewhere after Betty became Diane) and it's now one of my 10 favorite films.

Strange.

"Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man..."
