Cancellation

Why was this cartoon cancelled? Also, did it have a final episode?

reply

It seems all DiC cartoons are short-lived.

It was made as a 65 episode syndicated afternoon show and the 1st 65 shows look very similar to the daily comic strip, by GM owned The Program Exchange, they basicaly let networks air shows for free as long as they air a certain amount of comercials, it aired for 20+ years and I am sure some local net is still airing the reruns today.

After the live action Movie came out CBS aired an aditional season for 13 episodes(Dennis is skineyer and has Blue overals)...their is no last episode, but this is not realy the type of show that has and intro and an end

I must have seen every episode. I remember 1986 through 1988 and it was on. If they cancelled it, they never told you. You just figured it out that it was no longer around. For me, the 80's was an entirely different era than when the 90's began. I was getting older and became a teenager in the 90's, but by the 90's, the excellent quality cartoons of the 80's were long gone. So for me, it was like the 80's were cancelled in the 90's and the cartoons were all gone. You could never find them anywhere. Dennis The Menace was very short lived and it brings back great memories of coming back home from school to watch these fun cartoons. Those were the days

It should have had more episodes.

reply

It had 91 episodes altogether.

The original 65 episode syndicated run, the 13 episode CBS second season, and the 13 episode 'All New Dennis the Menace' season that came out after the 93 movie.
