Regarding the eagle
Anyone know what happened to the eagle and why it ignored Spirit after he was captured?

I think that is not the same eagle as it was at the beginning of the movie. The first eagle is too far across the plains and this is another from that part of the land. Spirit just saw an eagle and got excited but that eagle doesn't know him. This is just an nostalgic memory and an visual reminder that his heart is split two-ways.
