Wexford Harm Done missed end

Movie girl: I have the DVD (from a VHS) and just saw it again. Claire Holman is great as the abused wife who finally does commit murder. If not spoiling things, we think she was able to escape jail, as she had called Wexford's daughter Sylvia on the Hotline for help. (IF she called for help, the DA assumed the murder was not premeditated.

I think you missed that last five minutes which implies the ending. THe first time I read the book I picked up on this only by reading over it again. THough the hotlines are confidential, in cases of murder it must be different. The police were able to trace the call to the victim's home and the conversation where Wexford's daughter tried to help her Claire;s character.

(In the book Wexford has a hard time getting Sylvia to tell him the information, but finally succeeds as the lady will be tried for murder if not).
