One question: What's the problem? It's not that I disagree with you, but what are your reasons? I mean, give me some ideas why you think this is so wrong. I'm a huge fan of The Crow, films and comics, and I'm sure you must be too but what's the problem with this? Look at what Hollywood's doing right now. Their remaking/ reinventing everything right now. Even films that were made recently outside of the U.S. Wasn't it only a matter of time for them to sink their claws in to The Crow?
Is it that you don't like Norrington? Personally, I think he's a decent director and better than the average Hollywood yes-man. That doesn't mean he's right for the job but would it be better for someone like Rob Cohen or Michael Bay to do it? I don't think so.
My opinion on a new Crow film is this: Continue on with the mythology. If They're going to sink enough cash into this to make it a theatrical release, unlike the last two sequels, then move on with the story. My issue with a reinvention is they're hoping to bank on the first films success by using the same characters because Ash Corvin, Alex Corvis, and Jimmy Cuervo didn't drive fans to the theaters to buy tickets. Plus, the movie has certain differences from the comic book by James O'Barr so wouldn't the first film be considered a reinvention...? Ah, that's a different topic for debate. I should also mention that if Heath Ledger gets an Oscar nod for The Dark Knight, Brandon Lee was ROBBED. And that's not because I think Lee is the be-all and end-all of acting, but because The Crow is a VASTLY superior movie to The Dark Knight(Two words: SIMPLIFIED SCRIPT)and Lee didn't essentially die by his own hand. But once again, I digress.
So I guess what I'm getting at is before I sign your petition, I need to know Why you're against it 'cause being a fan of the Proyas film just isn't enough. I'd want to make sure you actually have a point to make and you're not just some fanboy who's bitter because there's a chance they may TOP the original and that would just be sacriledge. Sort of like Linda Lee's lawsuit against the producers and attempts to curb any further films being made. Nice sentiment but ludicrious. I'm not saying I disagree with her but I can understand why they went ahead with it. MONEY. Besides, as much as she, you and I may think so, Brandon Lee IS NOT The Crow. J. O'Barr is and that, like this reinvention, should TOTALLY BE UP TO HIM. On a last note, though, props to you for stepping up and starting something like this 'cause you obviously feel passionately about it. BUT WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU WHEN THEY WERE MAKING THAT REVOLTING TV SHOW TEN YEARS AGO????

I'm about a year late, emberato-1, but I read the petition, and it's basically just a love-letter to the first film, and how a remake/reboot/re-imagining would "ruin" it (which is bullcrap, as it wouldn't impact the original in any way). It's not worth signing.

Plus, I have no problem with the re-invention, because it means the series will no longer be in the hands of the current producers, who spat out crap like City of Angels and Wicked Prayer. The original film is one of my all time favorite movies, but aside from the fairly decent Salvation, the sequels sucked.

I think I may start a petition to stop people from whining about something being remade or rebooted or re whatever. I have said this on the Poltergeist 2015 board: if you don't like remakes DON'T *beep* WATCH THEM THEN! The remake will not affect the original nor will it tarnish its memory or legacy.

I have been a huge fan of this franchise since the early 90s when I discovered it, and I'd love to see a new take on it theatrically. Any fan of the comics and films knows that Brandon Lee's Eric Draven was not and WILL not be the only "Crow."
There have been others since AND before. So stop moaning "oh now they're remaking this movie! Why?"

Don't watch if it scares you.
