The real cruelty...

Is that I watched this film and thus wasted a considerable amount of my time. I feel as if I was robbed.

Pretentious, far-reaching and "artsy" in the worst possible ways.

I am a SERIOUS horror fan and have seen just about everything, and I would not recommend this film to anyone. Silly and pointless, it tries so hard to offend. It's the bully on the playground - it impacts some, those who aren't smart enough to ignore it.

Be wise and skip this one if you value your time.

I have to agree with you. I got the Japanese dvd a few years ago based on the cover art (VHS cover seen here: https://lh3.ggpht.com/-ZqjWbJiyFGk/UKBi5OrCY6I/AAAAAAAABSc/rkU_WgshVVU /s1600/SUBCONSCIOUS%2BCRUELTY_a.jpg), thinking it was going to be disturbing along the lines of Carpenter's THE THING.

Instead it was just an onslaught of gross out visuals in a desperate attempt to shock. I think I gave up the moment they resorted to showing a guy masturbating to a random movie.

Yes! Subconscious Cruelty affected me the same way! I love gore, I mean I really LOVE it...when it has a point.

The people that really frustrate me are the ones that claim that people who dislike Subconscious Cruelty are dim-witted and lack vision. Taste in film actually very rarely reflects one's intelligence. I know tons of people who love 'classics' who can barely hold a conversation about them and I have known some very interesting and intelligent people who will watch anything featuring Gary Busey. Go figure.

Out of curiosity, what are some of your favourite horror films?
