Helen....spoilers

Helen gets hot and bothered by an anonymous love letter she finds thinking its meant for her so she just decides to screw her young employee Johnny who's half her age because she thinks it's from him?

First of all she couldn't know for sure that it was really meant for her and she didn't know for sure it was from the Johnny. What was she thinking? This was a college kid much younger than her and obviously immature as well. She obviously doesn't have sense let alone much moral character.

Thinking she has made a mistake, she can't even resist his later advances and screws him again. The two repeatedly carry on like a couple of kids in heat. She does all this while knowing she has a later date with George.

George the fireman pines for her but she has him in the friend zone. He tells her they have gone on dates together in the past but she denies they were dates. Poor George. She treats him poorly keeping him in the friend zone although it's obvious to her that he pines for her. After their date, he professes his love for her in an awkward way but she lets him leave without saying anything.

She finally comes to her senses and word of her affair with Johnny begins to leak as evidenced by her mother finding out. She can't even even call it off with Johnny without kissing him romantically and telling him that she loves him then watching him drive away.

George is waiting for her when she returns home and has an idea about what has been going on between her and Johnny. She tries to apologize but he stops her and tells her she was just being human. He tells her that their timing is off and that he's leaving town. I wish he hadn't been so understanding.

I wish George had found out just how easily she had fallen prey to her emotions because of a letter and as a result carried on with Johnny. After all, he had written her in the past himself but it got him nowhere but in the friend zone. He should have just written her off completely and found someone of higher moral character. He definitely deserved someone better than her.

What i remember was the lover gave her what she was looking for and she could not handle it. Age has caught up with her and the lover would not have worked anyway. I think he [Tom] felt since she was now informed she was his choice in the beginning she was the one who lost out. He is in between loves divorced and free and will start again with her when he is ready, that is if she can wait for it to make sure if she is really serious about him. If she waits he knows it's right. Perfect solution for a flighty woman like her. The movie ended perfectly with her in limbo just as he had been all those years.

I did not remember her telling the lover she loved him i thought it was i never really knew you and then the walk of shame. In so many words.

First of all she did tell Johnny she loved him. It was when Johnny dropped her off at home. Shortly after she kisses him romantically she gets out of his car, turns to him and says to him "I love you", just before he drives off. She then walks to her house where she's met by George who was waiting for her in the yard.

I have to agree that Johnny gave her what she was looking for and she couldn't handle it from someone like him. Too bad her affection was so misplaced. I agree she was "flighty" and it was a perfect ending with her in limbo just as George had been for so long. I would like to think that George overheard her tell Johnny she loved him and thereby finally recognize her to be the "flighty" person she was. I would also like to think that it was the reason he decided not to stay. My hope though would be that should the story have continued, he would finally reject her if she decided to follow after him. Or, having said that he would send her a card, that he would write a note for her not to bother contacting him since he's moving on with his life without her. He was too good for someone like her and it irritates me when someone who behaves so badly Is rewarded with a happy ending.
