I would like to ask the same question too ?! by the way I am from Egypt myself and I didn't see the movie. The censorship in Egypt is not narrow minded but it has every right to ban provcative films that humilate creed or religion whether it was Christianity ,Judaism or Islam .
Plz answer !

Well , I am not an extremist by any measure and I am Egyptian ,but if this movie is " aimlessly" offending to others beliefs ;then I see that they have the right to be at least upset about it. Another weird thing that was mentioned here is about that it was banned by "extermists" !!! Well ,I know very well that "extremists" have no effect at all on the censorship in Egypt !!
Thus It must have to be another logical reason to be" banned in Egypt " as you people mention . and thanks for your comments about the whole issue .

It is my belief that if you wish to ban films you are ipso facto an extremist.

It's only a film, only art and art, as Oscar Wilde so cleverly pointed out, doesn't have any morals.

Oscar Wilde Works were often critical to soceity as they were mostly "Comedy of Manners" and his one and only novel "The Picture of Dorian Gray " evoked criticism in USA when it was published because it was considered "immoral " of what it implied ! What I want to get at here is that people are entitled everywhere to have their own view about ( any work of art ) and its effect on their soceity or its implied notes ;So if this movie was such a low budget almost B rated flick , neither the censorship nor the audience in Egypt would care to watch it ! not to mention "Banning " it ;as if it was gonna unleash revolutions and strikes in Egypt . My real opinion now that phrase "BANNED IN EGYPT " was only added as a way of advertisement to attract a few more curious guys to watch that "piece of cinematographic fine art " .

There is quite a lot of swearing and some scenes with a sculpted vagina.

Some Muslims may also find it objectionable as it presents the father of the household as a hypocritical bigot who tries to force traditional ways onto his family despite not adhering to them himself.

Those two things would probably get it banned in Egypt.
