What is the 70's space programme shown on the tv after the dad has beaten the mum and son?

The Clangers, it's about a group of space pigs who live on the moon, who's only form of communicating is by whistling.

It is woth looking up the Clangers. The program actually had a script and when shown at an international TV festival the Swedes said it was in Swedish and the Germans said it was in German. Done by Oliver Postgate who did Noggin the Nog amongst others.

Hey! Thanks to the original poster for asking the question and to the poster who answered it! The reason I came to this message board was to ask the same question only to find that it had been asked and answered already.

I am having a trip down memory lane on youtube and just watched the wombles, then i remembered this program and wanted to look it up but couldnt remember its name. I do remember as a child thinking that their whistling thing was really creepy and I actually never watched it. But when I saw that scene in East is East I suddenly needed very much to look it up.

No search I could come up with resulted in its name, except for this East is East message board. Thanks again folks!

The Clangers also famously appeared in an episode of Doctor Who. The Sea Devils.
