Something I was wondering about

First of all, I LOVE this film, I must have seen it about 20 times, and I neve rget bored of it, and I thought i knew it inside out.

However in everything i've read about the film Ella is always described as a Roman Catholic of Irish descent.

I do not remember there being ANY indication of this in the film whatsoever. Am i being phenomenally thick???

Thanks in advance :)

Remember when Ella slammed the cash register drawer shut? It was when the priest came to the chip shop with his collection tin. Ella and Annie gave him a bag of roses and shamrocks. I thought Ella and Annie had been making paper or cloth roses and shamrocks for the priest to "sell" as fundraising tokens for charity. (Sort of like the poppies people get for making a donation on Remembrance Day.) I didn't think they would be selling shamrocks unless it was an Irish-Catholic parish.

Ohhh that would make sense! I never made that connection before. Thankyou! :)

When do you see the Ireland poster? O.o

reply

Wasn't there a Christian parade at the beginning of the film? In Britain, Protestants rarely do parades.
