I freakin' LOVE this movie!!!

I'm not technically a Southerner, being from western Illinois and all, but I did live in southern Missouri for a few years during my youth and picked up a slight accent and a love of hillbilly mannnerisms. This movie is so great! I especially love the scene where they are buying booze at the liquor store, and everything is in slo-mo to the tune of "Ghost Riders In the Sky" by Ray Benson and Dwight Yoakam (Dwight who, incidentally, plays the a**hole boyfriend in "Sling Blade"). I've had so many conversations with people just like these... as soon as I saw the title "Daddy & Them", I felt right at home and knew I had to own this movie! My hat's off to Billy Bob-- he did a great job with this film!

I just caught this today on TV only half way through and it obviously is a excellent movie. ALL the performances are fantastic and very funny. I'd love to see it again sometime. Its a real breath of fresh air to come across movies as good as this.

OMG. I just saw this too. I had never heard of it before and am in LOVE with this movie. I have lived in the south my whole life and am from a "white trash" family also. I laughed out loud through the whole movie. I can't believe this movie has not gotten more attention. I am going to try to find a copy and see it again. I would highly recommend this movie. A true Cult Classic for me!!!

I totally know/knew people who were just like the characters in the movie. I love the characters in Billy Bob Thornton's movies. He doesn't get the credit he deserves.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

I'm watching it now on IFC. Ten minutes in and I love it. It's freakin' hilarious. I knew there was some reason I like Billy Bob Thornton.

Just watched it on IFC, too. I've seen it several times, but it's been awhile. I forgot how much I loved John Prine's character, Alvin. The speech he gives at the end of the movie is awesome, and so is Andy Griffith's response.

Also worth mentioning is Walter Goggins, who played Tommy. He gets some of the best lines, especially during his "confession" on the porch. He's in a lot of BBT movies.

The trip to the liquor store is too funny..."Evercleeeaarrr"...

Plus, I love the song they play during the ending credits. John Prine wrote it especially for the movie.

I've gotta get this dvd.

This is a movie I can watch over and over and never get tired of it. I hear people say it's a funny movie, others say it's a drama, still others say dark comedy... it's not any of these and it's all of these, in my opinion. It's just a slice of realistic southern dysfunction.

I think the performances are great and the musical score is outstanding. John Prine, not known for his acting, does a decent job with his character, and although he is supposed to be the "slow" one, is the one who seems to have the most wisdom. There is just a lot of charm in this movie and it's one of my favorites.
